Move over Summer, it’s time for crisp frosty mornings and big woolly jumpers

Everybody loves summer, but we think Autumn is the secret winner. With nature whipped up in colours of deep brown, mustard yellow and shops selling Pumpkin Spice everything, what’s not to love? With that said, we think you should make the most of this cosy season, and there is a long list of things to do that can be found right on your doorstep.

Here are a few activities you can do around the Wirral to make sure you truly submerge yourself in the best season ever.

A Stroll in Sefton Park

One great aspect of Autumn is the gorgeous colours it paints our usually green landscapes. We see deep browns, mustard yellows and warm oranges which allow local parks to become beautiful scenes that are nothing less than the pinnacle of autumn. With this said, when the weather is mild, why don’t you take a stroll in your local park with a camera in hand. The warm colours on top of icy frost will make for a great autumnal picture. Sefton Park is a Wirral park that wears autumn well and with features such as the Palm House, The Bandstand and their Caves and Waterfalls, it will make for a picturesque backdrop.

Conker Hunting in Arrowe Country Park

Conkers. It seems that no matter how old you get, you can’t help but snapping up some glossy conkers and putting them in your pocket. Our parents and grandparents also have fond memories of hunting for these pesky chestnuts as it’s a timeless autumn tradition that shouldn’t ever be missed. Take yourself to Arrowe Country Park and walk into the depths on the forest on a fun conker hunt. A great day out for the kids, or for reminiscent adults, collecting conkers can be just the beginning of your autumn activities. They can be used for a variety of crafts and other seasonal fun, so get hunting! Click here to get some inspiration.

Hot Chocolates in Parkgate

The Wirral is full of hidden gems – especially when it comes to quaint coffee spots. We can’t think of anything better than sitting back, relaxing and warming up your hands on a cream topped hot chocolate, and there are plenty of local spots in which you can do so! Elephant Coffee is a well-known name around the Wirral and it can be confidently said that they serve a top-notch hot choc. Not only that, you can sip your sweet treat as you gaze across the beautiful Parkgate Dee Estuary. If you don’t find yourself on the Parkgate front this autumn, then there is also Morning Noon Night in the centre of Neston which has recently had a makeover along with brand new owners. Go check it out!

Local Events

If none of the above is enough for you and you truly want to immerse yourself into the season, there are number events happening in your local area. There’s everything from fun evenings for all the families, to events just for the grown-ups. It’s great to take advantage of events in your local area to support independents and the community. Here are some of our upcoming favourites:
