We’re nearing the end of November which means one thing and one thing only… the countdown to Christmas is about to begin! Get your advent calendars and Xmas playlists at the ready, it’s time to join in the festive season on the Wirral.

Whether you’re a Wirral resident or you regularly visit, you’ll know that it’s a pretty special place. With a fantastic community and loads to do, any time of year can be jam-packed with activities and memory-making days. However, it’s extra special during the festive time of year. We’ve rounded up all our favourite things to do on the Wirral for the countdown to Christmas.

What’s on this Christmas?

You won’t be stuck for things to do in our area this year. There’s plenty going on, and to save you a job we’ve done all the research for you! Here’s a list of some exciting Wirral activities, places and events to try out this December.

Cosy up by the fire with Wirral Logs

You don’t need to wait for December to get the fire going. It’s been cold for long enough, now! Wirral Logs are a great local business that can supply you with the best quality wood logs for your cosy fire. Thank us later (and tag us in your fireplace pics!). Check out their Facebook page here for all the details you need.

Enjoy the Santa Experience at Church Farm

If you’re looking for a day out with the kids or a loved one, you can’t go far wrong with Church Farm in Thurstaston. Their annual Santa experience is great to entertain the little ones – tickets are between £10.00 and £13.00 depending on the date you go. You’ll get a go on the 45-minute ride as well as gifts – chocolate for the kids and mulled wine/mince pie combo for adults. Church Farm also sell freshly-cut Christmas trees for that ultimate festive feeling in your home. Visit their Facebook page here.

Visit Santa’s Grotto and the Cafe at Port Sunlight Garden Centre

As well as stocking up on the best Christmas decks around, you’ll be able to enjoy a warming drink in the Port Sunlight Sun Lounge cafe. Sounds like the perfect afternoon to us! And if you need to entertain the kids, why not visit Santa’s Grotto from the 1st December? Entry is £8 per child with two adults allowed to accompany. Fancy dress is encouraged! Check out their Facebook page here.

Embrace the Christmas spirit with a film or panto at Gladstone Theatre

The Birkenhead theatre is showing the classic film It’s a Wonderful Life on the 1st December. A great way to start your month and tickets are just £4.00. But if you’re more of a live-action kinda family, the Cinderella panto is the perfect excuse to get out of the house! Standard tickets are £15.00 whilst concessions are £13.00. There are also family deals available – check out their website for more listings and information. Alternatively, visit their Facebook for the latest news.

Get involved with community light switch-ons

Many towns and cities around the UK have already turned their Xmas lights on. But there are still a few Wirral locations left to do the deed. Irby Village will be switching their lights on for 30th November, so get down to enjoy the shire horses, steam engine and plenty of food and drink! On the 1st December, you can choose between Oxton and Hoylake. In Oxton, Elsa from Frozen will be making an appearance whilst Hoylake will have a BBQ, musical entertainment and mulled wine on offer.

Stock up on pressies at Heswall Artisan Market

For handmade gifts, craft workshops and a Santa’s Grotto, look no further than the fabulous Heswall Maker Bee Artisan Market.
